Published: Sun, Jan 15, 2017, 09:17AM CST

We would like to encourage all of our students and parents to get out and walk to school Wednesday, January 18th to show support of our Healthy Zone School!

Staff members will be meeting student walkers at the following locations:

  • Corner of Sandy Lake and Winding Hollow
  • Corner of Sandy Lake and Old Coppell Road
  • Corner of Parkway and Graham

You are welcome to drop students off to join the teachers at these locations as we walk to school at 7:30 a.m.

Leaving cars at home saves gas, saves money, improves our air quality, and provides exercise!

Students will be offered the salad bar as part of the regular lunch. There is no extra cost for this option. If your child brings a lunch from home, she or he can purchase a side Salad Bar for $1.50. Either way, your student will be able to go back to the Salad Bar as many times as they would like!

Mr. Bob and Ms. Jennifer will be heading up the volunteer crew at the Salad Bar. They will need some additional volunteers if you can spare some time or just want to spend lunchtime with your child. All volunteers enjoy a free Salad Bar lunch just for helping out!

Please click here, if you would like to volunteer at the CCE Salad Bar.

Please contact Bob Monroe or Jennifer MacLean if you have any questions.

Thank you so much for supporting this healthy lunch option for our students!

Pictureday
Reminder: Picture Retake Day is Tuesday
Published: Sun, Jan 8, 2017, 11:06AM CST

LifeTouch will be at CCE on Tuesday, January 10th for retakes.

Who participates in picture retakes?
1. If your child joined CCE after October 17th
2. If your child was absent on picture day
3. If you didn’t like how the first picture turned out and you’d prefer your child to take a new portrait

…whatever the reason, if your child is participating in retakes make sure they are dressed in their best Tuesday morning.

It might be good idea to let your child’s teacher know you want them to have their photo taken. Sometimes the kiddos (particularly younger ones) get confused about whether or not they are supposed to get their picture retaken. Notifying the teacher will help ensure your expectations are met.

Questions about portrait retakes? Email cceyearbook@yahoo.com.

Moana
Holiday Movie & Parties
Published: Sun, Dec 11, 2016, 11:27AM CST

On Wednesday, December 14th, our school will take a school-wide field trip to Grapevine Mills for a showing of “Moana”, a movie about character, confidence, bravery, and dreaming big. We ask that each learner bring $5.00 to cover the cost of their ticket by Monday, December 12th. CCE and our PTO will pay for the busses to the movie.

At the end of the performance, the children will return to school and be “guests” at holiday luncheons prepared by our room moms and dads. Since this will be a special day of celebration for each of us, we ask that the children dress in “holiday best.” This day has become a tradition that is enjoyed by everyone in our school community!

Ingredients
24 ounces almond bark

Place the almond bark in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave for 1 minute. Remove and stir. Microwave again for 30 seconds and stir again. Microwave at 30 second intervals until the almond bark is completely melted. Only microwave long enough to melt it completely. Do not overcook. Pour the puff corn into a large bowl and pour the melted almond bark over it. Stir until the puff corn is evenly coated with the melted almond bark. Pour out onto wax paper; spread out and separate. Sprinkle lightly with colored sugar if desired. Use colors that coordinate with the holiday or season. Cool until almond bark is set.
