Fighting the Flu: Attendance Letter
Published: Sun, Feb 18, 2018, 09:32AM CST

CISD continues to see an increase in absences due to flu and flu-like illness. CISD Health Services is monitoring these illnesses in our district and communicates frequently with Custodial Services to ensure our campuses receive thorough, necessary cleanings. CISD understands that recovery from the flu and other illnesses often takes several days. The state does require the district to send parents a mandatory email notice after three unexcused absences within a four-week period in order to combat truancy, especially in secondary students. However, please note that all unexcused absences will be corrected in the parent portal once a note is received after a student returns to school. A child who is sick cannot learn effectively and is unable to participate in a meaningful way. Keeping a sick child at home prevents the spread of illness in the school community and allows the child an opportunity to rest and recover. Click here for more information on health attendance guidelines. The actions of students and staff also can help prevent or slow the incidence of flu. According to the CDC, the first line of defense is getting the flu shot. Other preventative measures include covering coughs and sneezes, washing hands and keeping sick people away from others.

Last Chance for Valograms!!
Published: Mon, Feb 12, 2018, 08:17PM CST

Our valogram sale is in full swing! Online sales end tonight at Midnight. Valograms can be purchased in person tomorrow morning from 6:45 am to 7:30 am. See below for more details!

Valograms are valentines that you can purchase for your child to hand out to their friends on Valentine’s Day. Each valentine will include a piece of candy. The kids love to send them to each other, teachers, CCE staff, family, and friends!

The cost for 1 pack of 36 valograms is $8 or individually .25 cents each. Each pack will have an assortment of different designs, similar to what you would buy in the store, as well as an assortment of candy favorites.

Online sales end Monday Feb. 12 at midnight. Here is the link to the form to order your valograms packs: Payment for pre-ordered/online sold valograms will be accepted at the valogram booth and your valograms will be given at that time.

FINAL on-site valogram sales are Tuesday Feb. 13 from 6:45 am to 7:30 am in the CCE cafeteria. We accept CASH ONLY please.

Once you receive the valograms, your child can fill them out, attach the candy to the valogram, and bring them in on Valentine’s Day to exchange with his/her friends.

Parents consider this: instead of going to the store to purchase valentines and treats, you would be saving money and a trip to the store, all while supporting our 5th grade. Proceeds from the valogram sale go toward 5th grade end of the year events.
