CISD Day at the Ballpark

This Monday, May 14th, join the Texas Rangers for a night of great baseball action, while supporting the students and staff of Coppell ISD!

This is an exciting evening of family fun.  Join us as we recognize selected students from each campus who have demonstrated outstanding character and citizenship qualities throughout the year.  These students will fill up the outfield, and our campus Teachers of the Year will stand by home plate as the first pitch is thrown.  Plan to sit in the CISD Upper Reserved section and enjoy a hot dog while you watch the game and evening highlights on the Ranger’s jumbo-tron. To get tickets please contact the Rangers ticket office and ask for Coppell ISD seats.

On Friday, May 4th, at 9:15 a.m., the entire school will be participating in Project ACES (All Children Exercise Simultaneously).

PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD WEAR THEIR RED COTTONWOOD CREEK T-SHIRT!

All parents are also invited to attend and participate in this event at Cottonwood Creek.

Project ACES is an international movement that began in 1989 to help fight childhood obesity and recognize the importance of daily exercise.  The Coppell ISD SHAC (School Health Advisory Council) is hosting the event as a way to celebrate May being National Sport and Physical Fitness Month and to kick off our city’s healthy living initiative “Living Well In Coppell”.

Upcoming STAAR Testing

Cottonwood Parents,

The State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test will be administered on April 24th – 26th. Third and fourth grade will take math and reading on the 24th and 25th and fifth grade will take science on the 26th.

No visitors or parent volunteers in any grade level are allowed on campus on these days in order to maintain test security. This includes lunch visits, so please plan accordingly.

The following are important reminders for testing students:

  • go to bed early
  • eat a healthy breakfast
  • encourage your child to leave his/her cell phone at home
  • arrive at school on time
  • pack a healthy snack and water bottle for breaks
  • do not schedule any appointments during the school day

Recently, Coppell ISD schools received an award for “Best Youth Engagement” for their involvement in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life event. Specifically, the actions from both our High Schools and our middle schools.

The upcoming 2012 Relay for Life Coppell is scheduled for April 28-29th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 AM at Wagon Wheel Park (Freeport Parkway and Ruby Road). If you haven’t formed a team, signed up to participate, made a donation, or just want to learn more about this event, please go to RELAYFORLIFE.

CGA to Host "The Big Picture"

The Big Picture — CISD’s Gifted and Talented Program for K-12
and Meet the School Board Candidates

  • Thursday, May 3 at 7 p.m. at the CHS Lecture Hall

On May 3, CGA will host a night to introduce the Coppell ISD Trustee candidates for Places 6 and 7 and a presentation about the Gifted and Talented program in Coppell ISD through all grades.

The Meet the Candidates portion of the evening is first on the agenda, whereby the school board candidates will briefly introduce themselves to the audience and remain to entertain questions afterwards.

Following this, Todd Kettler will give a complete view of the GT program available in CISD. While you may have heard some of this information in the past, this will be the first time you hear it all in one seating, in one night, giving the full picture.

Event is FREE and OPEN TO ALL who are interested in attending.
